Do you know what emotional labor is? Until yesterday evening, I was also unfamiliar with the term. Last evening when I was returning to my home after my office work, I heard this thing for the first time in a BBC radio program. Like me, I assume many of you are also not aware of the fact. So, let me explain what is emotional labor with an example.
The job of an undertaker is a good example of emotional labor. Undertakes as you know are the people who dig graves and bury the dead people. No doubt without their work we would not be able to put our friends, family members, or co-workers in their final resting place. But do you think the work of undertakers only involves physical labor? No, I don’t think so. Is it not shocking burying another human being who was once a living being like us?
